Creep has a significant impact on the performance of mechanical engineering structures under conditions of high thermal and force loads, since it can lead to a violation of normal operating conditions due to the development of deformations that exceed permissible values. In this regard, reliable data on the characteristics of specific materials, obtained on the basis of experimental creep curves, are required. The results of experimental determination of accumulated creep deformation and fracture time of AD31 alloy at a temperature of 230 °C and stress values in the range from 66.2 to 81.5 MPa are presented. The studies were carried out on an AIMA-5-2 testing machine; standard samples with a diameter of 5 mm and a working length of 50 mm were cut from the workpiece in the longitudinal and transverse directions. At the lowest stress value of 66.2 MPa, the relative deformation of the samples did not exceed 0.2%, and no destruction was observed based on 60 h of testing. For higher stress levels, after 12...20 hours, the samples entered the stage of accelerated creep followed by destruction. In general, the discrepancy between the deformation values for experimental samples of longitudinal and transverse orientation turned out to be insignificant, which allows us to consider the AD31 alloy of the studied batch to be practically isotropic in terms of creep characteristics.
