Computer-aided design and analysis of cam gears

The most important characteristic of mechanisms and machines is the efficiency of energy consumption. The increase in energy consumption requires mathematical modeling in order to develop recommendations for saving energy. Energy in mechanisms is lost mainly due to the speed and load deviations from their optimum values. It is also lost because of forced braking. Mathematical models of cam gears can help to develop key recommendations for energy saving, which is impossible without evaluating sliding speeds and contact forces. To solve this problem, the quality criteria of mechanisms must be developed. In this paper, the sliding speed in the kinematic pair of higher degree and the increment factor are chosen as quality criteria. The mathematical modeling of cam gears has shown that the cam size depends on the switch angle between the pusher acceleration and deceleration. The obtained results make it possible to improve the technique for simulating cam gears and reduce the power consumption and wear of links.
