Reliability Assessment of Shafts in Accordance with the Criteria of Fatigue Strength under Random Load Conditions

Evaluation of strength reliability of machine parts as well as determination of probability of failure or failure is the necessary step in design. The method of probabilistic reliability evaluation of machine parts was developed for almost a quarter of a century ago in the works of G.A. Snesareva, D.N. Reshetova and other scientists. The base of the method is the separation within the calculated parameters of deterministic and random, and for random ones the normal distribution is applied. Conventionality of such an approach is indicated by the authors of the works, as the actual distribution of random variables, obtained in the process of experimental tests of machine parts, in general, may not correspond to any of the known in the theory of probability distribution law. In this case, the part of the initial information could be lost, and the developed methods for reliability assessment give uncontrolled error result.
