Speed and load fluctuations in material handling machines (MHMs) increase energy consumption and, therefore, reduce MHM efficiency. Energy is also wasted during forced braking. Currently, a new class of lifting and transport vehicles with hybrid power plants is being developed. Such vehicles can recover energy generated during deceleration and thereby reduce the total energy consumption. Another promising method for increasing MHM efficiency is to change the switching point in the acceleration-deceleration cycle, which does not require expensive regenerative devices. The results of research will be useful in design offices and manufacturing plants when developing new MHMs.
