The relevance of this article relates to the advanced technology need in products made from technical ceramics. Ever-increasing performance requirements can no longer be met by the use of traditional materials. Technical ceramics has high hardness, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, high modulus and low density while preserving all of its advantages where high temperatures are involved. The article describes the application of silicon nitride based material for manufacturing drawing dies. The bending test is considered the best way to determine the material strength. Statistical processing of the results was carried out using the Weibull - Gnedenko distribution. Determination of stress-strain state of drawing dies was made by means of FEM. Main recommendations relate to the design technique based on crimping of a product into a steel clamping ring while the optimum preload selected that ensures the material in a compression state within all range of workloads.
