The review of researches in the field of profiling and technological support of pistons of explosion engines is presented. The basic tendencies of development of constructions are noted. The conclusions that define a spectrum of tasks to reaching the purpose of lowering mechanical losses hy profiling and modifications in the lateral area of the piston skirt are drawn.
