The article considers the methodology of the operability individual assessment on various criteria of Nonikov transmissions failure based on the interpretation of data related to the transmission degree of load obtained indirectly using indications of intedral strain gauges, placed in hollows and in teeth faces of the examined wheels with the transmissions operating under load. Presented in the article the methodology of the assessment of load degree, operability and service life ofNovikov transmissions allows not only to reveal potential capabilities of a specific transmission, but also introduce, if necessary, justified changes into the construction of the gear or the wheel, or amend the technological process of their manufacture.
