From I990 till 2004 a number of engineering companies in Russia increased. The new owners of the newly established enterprises faced critical necessity' to create effective mechanisms of management corresponding to the market requirements and strategy direction of the companies' activity. It is deemed to be a short-sighted policy to install a classical functional oriented management system into an engineering enterprise and in the market economy where the speed of reaction in relation to the changes and client-orientedness plays a vital role. Moreover, apart from all the abovementioned disadvantages it might cause the loss of competitiveness of the company. As an alternative, the process approach to management, which is described herein, is reasonable to consider in this regard.
