The solution-diffusion processes occurring during the interaction of surfaces connected by diffusion welding — high-carbon alloy steel-bronze are considered. It is shown that the decisive factor in these processes is the high liquation capacity of copper, phosphorus, nickel on the part of bronze and iron, carbon, tungsten, molybdenum, chromium on the part of steel and their enrichment of the boundary layer of the liquid phase of bronze. The formation of the compound is caused by the formation of diffusion zones at the interface — a wide iron-based zone (up to 20 microns) on the steel side and a narrow phosphide zone (up to 5 microns) on the bronze side. As a result of the diffusion of a relatively large number of alloying elements into the boundary layer of the liquid phase, in the junction zone after isothermal exposure, a uniform layer (30 microns) of grains of an iron-copper-based solid solution containing phases of high hardness is formed. With the parameters of diffusion welding of bimetal — high carbon alloy steel-bronze, including a vacuum of 6.67?10–5 Pa, a heating temperature of 850 °C, and a holding time of 60 minutes, the equal strength of the bimetallic sleeve joint is achieved.
