Results of experimental researches of hydrodynamic and thermal processes in the backfills of spherical fuel elements with reference to active zones of nuclear reactors containing such elements are presented. The description of thermodynamic installation, a technique of preparation of models, measurements and processing of experimental data is given. Bubble and transitive modes of boiling in fuel cells are set up. Criterion dependences which can well describe resistance data at movement of one- and two-phase mediums and heat dissipation for areas of bubble and transitive modes of boiling in a spherical backfill.
