The technique and results of an experimental research of some engine oils and their power efficient properties are presented. It is gained, that along with standard methods of sampling of mechanige losses and a fuel rate, for more reliable estimation of antifriction (power efficient) properties in engine oils the thernal fields of abrasion of the cylinder (at cranking without compression and cooling) should be monitored together with the oil temperature in a crunkcase of the engine.
