Improving the performance of cast housings by analyzing casting defects, improving the diagnosis, and preventing these defects is of great importance. To solve this problem, it is necessary to develop a complex technique for casting the housings of technological machines in order to reduce their rejects. The questions of improving the performance of cast housings and stationary base members of technological machines are considered. The most typical surface defects and the defects in a metal structure formed by casting housings and stationary base members are analyzed. The causes of defects are revealed. Techniques for preventing casting defects and reducing the rejects of products are described. A diagnostic algorithm based on the generalized method for describing the principles of solidification of molten metal during manufacturing cast housings of technological machines is proposed.
