The Specifics of Vortex Machining of Ring Profiles on Lateral Surfaces of Rotation

The article presents the results of developing a new vortex machining method for profile sealing ring grooves on the lateral surfaces of rotation. The basis of the technology to ensure the required quality of the groove is the imitation of geometrical relations between the structural elements of each unit separately, and as part of the whole technological system, taking into account the transmission ratio of forward and backward connections. The grooves are machined by profile cutters that are fixed on the cutting head mounted on the spindle of the machine tool when the tool rotates continuously for two types of working passes. The vertical and linear-horizontal movements of the workpiece ensure the required penetration depth by the cutting tools. To form the groove, the rotational movement is transmitted to the tool, and the workpiece is fed in the longitudinal circular movement. Furthermore, there is a correlation between the longitudinal and the circular feeds. A design of the forming part of the tool and the tool head is proposed. The developed vortex machining method is applied to serial manufacturing of the SK 50.70 type faucets.
