The considered technology of thixoforging is a deformation process of metal alloys with globular microstructure in a semi-solid condition. This technology requires high precision implementation of all process parameters influencing the workpiece quality. The article deals with the problem of the deformation rate control from the point of view of its influence on the workpiece quality. The effect of the semi-solid slug temperature, design and the die temperature on the deformation rate is described.
