Analysis of opportunities to obtain chip grooves on taps by disc radial cutters

A possibility to use disk form radial milling cutters according to GOST 9305–93 to route straight and spiral chip grooves on the taps has been analyzed. Permissible values of the helix angle for such grooves are revealed. Optimal form of a single$radius groove is determined. Recommendations are given to define standard dimension-types of disk cutters and grinding wheels to process single-radius grooves.
