The process of argon-arc welding fuse on a dispersion-hardened composition materials on the basis of Al-Si alloy reinforced with 5 vol.% of SiC particles has been investigated. Two techniques of the fusing process, implying different ways of added material injection, were considered. Metallographic analysis and hardness measurement revealed that when the added material is injected on the front face of the melt bath, uniform distribution of reinforcing particles in weld pad still persists. Results of tribological dry friction tests showed a lower value of friction factor and high wear resistance of the composite material as compared to source composite materials.
