Analysis of peculiarities of shaping noncircular profiles, described by cicloidal curves and their equidistant curves has been made on the basis of sorted constructively-kinematic cycloidal schemes of processing. A condition of achieving of the needed number of edges of profile has been presented. The maximum possible number of cutting elements, providing the obtaining of corresponding many-sided profile has been established for rotary schemes and combined translational and circular schemes of movement of tool. The influence on the form of the edge of characteristics of machine, tool parameters and ratio of angular velocities of absolute motions has been shown.
