The paper presents results of a study aimed at determining methodological foundations of the modern digital technologies in simulating the rocket and space technology. The issues of applying technology capabilities in obtaining a holistic description of the developed object at the initial stages of the rocket and space technology creation are worked out. The paper provides an overview of the digital solutions from various aviation, rocket and space industries. It shows a systematization scheme for the numerous considered examples of solving the problems using the digital twins. The relevant software is considered, including the modern domestic platforms. The paper proposes and substantiates an approach to constructing complex models of the launch vehicles and spacecraft for solving the research problems and testing the model integration technologies. It provides software tools and launch models for implementing the approach using the example of taking a launch vehicle to the orbit. Results of the study could be useful for specialists of the enterprises, employees and students of the educational institutions in the aerospace industry.
