The Calculation of Normal Stresses and Dimensions of the Contact Area in an Inverted Axially Loaded Roller-Screw Mechanism

The pressure distribution in the nut and roller contact area is determined; the contact problem is solved. The coordinates of the first point of contact and the change of the axial distance are obtained through numerical solutions of a system of non-linear algebraic equations using the disparity minimization method. The results of the calculations described in the article allow the evaluation of load distribution along the contacting threads, selecting the materials for the parts of the planetary roller-screw mechanism and methods of heat treatment, as well as the evaluation of rigidity and durability of the mechanism at the design stage.
