The application of composite materials in suspension systems of wheeled vehicles allows in some cases to replace a linear viscous damping of hydraulic shock absorbers by a hysteresis damping of materials. The article presents a method of describing and modeling viscoelastic properties and hysteresis damping in fiberglass leaf springs with polymer interleaves, using viscoelastic mathematical models with fractional order derivatives.
