Based on a hydrodynamic modeling and the obtained analytical speed performance of friction forces there was built a diagram relating an elasto-plastic deformation pattern (preliminary displacement of a frictional contact) with Shtribek's curve and Petrov's straight line. Consideration was given to the conditions for creating a variable hydrodynamic wedge taking into account a longitudinal and transverse displacement of viscous medium, occurrence of a minimum friction force at optimum thickness of a lubricant layer and eccentricity of hydrodynamic bearings.
