PLM-Strategy in Small-Scale Production in the Machine-Building Industry

This work describes the experience of adapting domestic CAD systems under the conditions of small and medium-sized enterprises of the machine-building sector. Computer aided engineering includes the following stages: design, processing, and engineering analysis. Each is treated as in independent stage, with each preceding stage being a prerequisite for the next. The computer aided design system LOODSMAN:PLM links the entire set of applications from the product structure to a single standard, thus forming a project containing drawings and documents. The interconnection of the CAD products is embedded in the product tree, based on which LOODSMAN:PLM forms its composition. The structure contains accompanying documents, as well as attributive information. In the data archive, the designed object is stored as an object model, that the parts and units present in the design process are connected to. The set of documentation serves as the basis for product modifications, the condition of teamwork and a coordination tool in the customer — developer — manufacturer — supplier chain.
