A measuring system for monitoring the parameters of locomotive wheelsets

Wheelsets in repair locomotive depot of OJSC Russian Railways are currently monitored manually by technicians using mechanical templates (UT-1, TO-1, and others) accurate to ± 1 mm. The obtained values of monitored parameters of the wheelsets differ from the main data set due to the low accuracy of the measuring instrument. Therefore, the development of a comprehensive measurement system that will enable high level monitoring of locomotive wheelsets is topical. The principles of operation of a complex measurement system are considered. The system was developed by composite authors and is intended for monitoring wheelset parameters during locomotive motion (automatic systems for measuring parameters ASOC-L and detecting cracks and defects of wheelsets ASOD-L) and manual measurements of monitored parameters of locomotive wheelsets (small portable electronic instrumentation gauges KIP and ID). The system includes software for monitoring standard parameters of wheelsets and provides electronic passport maintenance. This development is part of the wheelset control system created within the framework of the Industrial railway complex automated control system, which differs from foreign analogues in accuracy and number of measured parameters. This paper contains a description of the development and its structural elements. The measurement system can be used in repair locomotive depot of Russian Railways to control locomotive wheelset parameters.
