This paper deals with the problems and possible solutions to improvement of working process of the gas engine with spark ignition. Detailed results of the experiment-calculated research of different combustion chamber configurations and variable swirl ratio are given. Qualitative and quantitative estimation of the shape and location of the combustion chamber effect on the local temperature distribution, heat release profile and main toxic components' emission can be found in this paper. In conclusion, data on the influence of the intensity of intake swirl on turbulent kinetic energy, flame structure and nitric oxides concentration for investigated modes of engine operation is presented.
