In this paper the importance of developing technological systems by future engineers is substantiated. The parameters of a technological system developed by a student during practical training at the Department of Technologies of Mechanical Engineering at BMSTU are analyzed. The originality and efficiency of the system is emphasized. The value of continuous research and production practice for preparing highly qualified specialists is highlighted. The importance of a match between the specific field of the base company and the specialization of the University Department is pointed out. Тhe main characteristics of the practical training at the Department of Technologies of Mechanical Engineering are described. It is recommended that the rational methods in conducting continuous research and practical training undertaken by other faculties and departments of BMSTU be employed by the department in question. The novelty and practical importance of the forms and methods of continuous practical training at the Department of Optic and Electronic Instrumentation are shown as the example. The most significant features that are missing at other engineering departments of the University are described. The recommendations for further improvement of continuous research and practical training are given. It is suggested that not only the faculty of the specialist departments and the staff of the base company be involved, but also the faculty of some other departments. The need to use foreign experience in solving engineering problems is emphasized. Conclusions that have practical value for training qualified engineers are made.
