Instability of Cutting Depth when Grinding Gearwheel Teeth by Copying

When grinding gearwheel teeth by copying, the cutting depth of the tooth profile becomes uneven, thus reducing the process efficiency. One of the ways to increase the efficiency of grinding is to ensure the stability of the actual cutting depth by controlling the influencing factors. The analysis of influence of certain subjective factors on the accuracy of grinding is performed. These factors are related to the organization and implementation of the teeth formation process, and are quite significant. The change in the cutting depth of the profile with a stable machining allowance is studied. Functional relations are established between the actual cutting depth and the influencing factors in teeth grinding by copying, as well as the ways to control these relations. The authors obtain and analyze a system of equations for determining the change in the cutting depth at any part of the gear tooth profile corresponding to the involute angle. The ways to ensure relatively even distribution of the cutting depth along the tooth profile are identified. Grinding teeth that have a relatively high inclination angle is proposed.
