The science of friction has developed significantly in recent decades. The processes of friction and wear greatly depend on the unit design, selection of wear resistant materials and efficient lubricants for them, as well as the mechanism operating conditions. Currently, application of a lubricant is considered one of the most common and effective ways to ensure reliability and durability of the contact parts of machinery. Of particular interest, according to the authors, is the interaction between two elastic bodies operating at high (pavg > 200 MPa) normal and tangential contact stresses, with allowance for the presence of the lubricant in the contact area. Therefore, experimental studies where the effects of the lubricant supply modes on the nature of the contact interaction in the friction pair and its wear resistance can be determined most accurately (without additional external influencing factors) are very relevant.
