The interest to massage is constantly growing, as it is one of the most effective drug-free methods in treating injuries and diseases. This interest led to a shortage of professional massage therapists and massage parlors around the world. The paper shows that in addition to ineffective intensive and extensive ways to solve the problem, an approach to creating the robotic massage systems becomes promising. However, the existing and promising robotic massage systems are collaborative and are characterized by large weight, size and high power consumption. This makes their implementation rather problematic in limited space and power supply, such as orbital and polar stations, ship premises, field working conditions, etc. A new symbiotic approach to creation of the massage robotics is proposed aimed at solving this problem. Using examples of the Triangle and Octahedral Dodecapod massage robot concepts designed and developed by specialists from the Blagonravov Mechanical Engineering Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Science, the paper demonstrates the prospects of symbiotic approach to creation of the robotic massage systems.
